Do you remember the house you were brought up in? Do you remember it looking this run-down? When I lived in my home in Weleetka, Oklahoma, it was not this run-down. When I saw what it looked like about three decades after I lived in it, I brooded over it for awhile. There were good memories, and there were bad memories, but they were a part of my family … my past … my being. It was sad.Continue reading Brooding Over the Past?

Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. John 13:3-5 Continue reading 3 Lessons You Can Learn from Jesus Washing Feet
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:3-6
Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Think of it! The Creator of the Universe chose that His followers should be holy and blameless before Him and has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Not some. EVERY spiritual blessing! Continue reading 30 Blessings & 25 Responsibilities for Christians
Looking up the present-day Mount of Olives.
Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ Hosanna in the highest!” Matthew 21:9
Passover was just six days away. Mary anointed the feet of Jesus with a year’s wages worth of spikenard and wiped His feet with her hair. The room filled with a beautiful fragrance, and He told the room full of friends that Mary had just anointed Him for burial. John 12:3
The next day, Jesus looked down from the Mount of Olives onto Jerusalem. Lambs were being led down the Mount of Olives to the temple for inspection and later for sacrificing on Passover. Continue reading Hosanna! Jesus Saves!
“He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.” Matthew 28:6
Now, Christian, change thy note a moment. “Come, see the place where the Lord lay, “with joy and gladness. He does not lie there now. Weep, when ye see the tomb of Christ, but rejoice because it is empty. Thy sin slew him, but his divinity raised him up. Thy guilt hath murdered him, but his righteousness hath restored him. Oh! he hath burst the bonds of death, he hath ungirt the cerements of the tomb, and hath come out more than conqueror, crushing death beneath his feet. Rejoice, O Christian, for he is not there-he is risen. “The Tomb of Jesus,” by C.H. Spurgeon
Come, see where Jesus lay.
Come, see where you were going to anoint his body with spices.
Come, see where the Lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice lay.
Come, see the promise of forgiveness fulfilled.
Come, see, friend of Jesus. He has risen as he said.
Come, see the place where he lay and remember that Jesus paid the price for your sins.
Come, see the place where he lay, and remember that he gave his life, so that you can live with him forever.
Come, see the place where Love made peace with heaven and earth.
Come, see the place where the Victor conquered death.
Come, see the place, and go tell.
Go and tell the others that Jesus is on his way to Galilee where they will see him again. Matthew 28:7
Father of Love and Mercy, tear the veil of blindness from those who cannot understand your great act of grace and mercy of giving the world your only begotten Son. Enable them to understand that Jesus paid the price of the world’s sins, death on the cross. Thank you that Jesus rose from the dead and is our great High Priest advocating for his followers. Help us to come to the place where Jesus lay. As we are there, we will weep because it was necessary that he suffered death on the cross. As we are there, we will rejoice that Jesus lives! In our Great Savior and friend’s name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.
