Come, see where Jesus lay

Slide1

“He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.” Matthew 28:6

Now, Christian, change thy note a moment. “Come, see the place where the Lord lay, “with joy and gladness. He does not lie there now. Weep, when ye see the tomb of Christ, but rejoice because it is empty. Thy sin slew him, but his divinity raised him up. Thy guilt hath murdered him, but his righteousness hath restored him. Oh! he hath burst the bonds of death, he hath ungirt the cerements of the tomb, and hath come out more than conqueror, crushing death beneath his feet. Rejoice, O Christian, for he is not there-he is risen. “The Tomb of Jesus,” by C.H. Spurgeon

Come, see where Jesus lay.

Come, see where you were going to anoint his body with spices.

Come, see where the Lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice lay.

Come, see the promise of forgiveness fulfilled.

Come, see, friend of Jesus. He has risen as he said.

Come, see the place where he lay and remember that Jesus paid the price for your sins.

Come, see the place where he lay, and remember that he gave his life, so that you can live with him forever.

Come, see the place where Love made peace with heaven and earth.

Come, see the place where the Victor conquered death.

Come, see the place, and go tell.

Go and tell the others that Jesus is on his way to Galilee where they will see him again. Matthew 28:7

My prayer

Father of Love and Mercy, tear the veil of blindness from those who cannot understand your great act of grace and mercy of giving the world your only begotten Son. Enable them to understand that Jesus paid the price of the world’s sins, death on the cross. Thank you that Jesus rose from the dead and is our great High Priest advocating for his followers. Help us to come to the place where Jesus lay. As we are there, we will weep because it was necessary that he suffered death on the cross. As we are there, we will rejoice that Jesus lives! In our Great Savior and friend’s name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.
