Jesus’ Stunning Peace Promise

Slide1

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. John 14:27-28.

Jesus promised peace to His disciples after He told them that He was going to die and Peter would betray Him in chapter 13.

Fourfold Peace

The peace that Jesus offers is not a peace defined by the world. It is the peace of Jesus.

  1. Heaven triumphs. It is the peace of Paul as he recites his history of beatings, shipwrecks, and stoning (2 Corinthians 11:25)
  2. Troubles dissolve. It is the peace Jesus bestowed on the woman with the discharge of blood when He said, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” (Luke 8:48)
  3. Fear fades. It is the peace of a sleeping Savior in the bottom of a boat in the storm. (Matthew 8:24)
  4. Love rejoices. It is Jesus entering the locked room where the disciples hid, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” (John 20:21)

It is surrendering your safety, your life, and trusting in Jesus and His control of what happens in your life.

It is a child in His Father’s arms.

Do you have His peace?

It’s a promise you can possess.

Trust in Jesus, and rejoice in His peace that passes understanding.

My prayer

Father, thank You for pouring out Your peace upon Your believers. What a stunning promise we have that in the midst of trials and tribulations, we can rest in Your peace and love.

Please share Jesus’ peace promise with others.
