I Prayed for Death – God Gave Me Life

“God, I thought I was doing what You wanted me to do. I’m in college. I’m engaged to the man You prepared for me to marry. But, I’m in and out of hospitals. No one knows what’s wrong. What do you want me to do?”

Silence.

I endured three semesters; then, I gave up and went home … a college dropout … a failure at 19.

Longing for More? Learn from the Psalmist

I trust that you and your family are finding ways to enjoy each other that you never knew existed before.

We’ve seen all kinds of family projects on TV and YouTube, like dominoes and toilet paper tumbling throughout a house. We’ve laughed as we saw families dance and exercise. We’ve sung with live-streamed concerts and worship. We’ve watched golf ball and ping pong challenges, and much more.

Maybe you’re binging on television programs that you never had time for when life was in full-swing.

All this is a way to pass the time when we’re bored or depressed.

It’s easy to get depressed in these uncertain times, isn’t it?

Disappointment and even depression aren’t new.

Peace in the Tangles

Throughout the weeks, I’ve noticed a spike in the number of people visiting this blog and reading the posts focused upon depression, trouble, hope, and prayer.

I adapted some of my posts and Bible study helps that I’ve written in the past to create a booklet. Additional Scriptures to consider are included at the end of the first four chapters. The last two chapters apply the Scriptures as prayer.

Prayer is Powerful – Pray for Our World!

When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:13-14

Solomon had just finished building, dedicating the temple, and praying that the Lord would listen to the Israelites’ prayers and have regard to their prayers. The God of the universe answered Solomon with the promises that He would hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.

Today has been declared National Day of Prayer.
