51 Years of Delight

“As an apple tree among the trees of the forest,
so is my beloved among the young men.
With great delight I sat in his shadow,
and his fruit was sweet to my taste.”

Song of Solomon 2:3

Sweetness in Unity

My Beloved, my Darling, my delight is in you.
Throughout our 51 years, you have given me rest in the shade of your presence.
You took my hand, and we danced through numerous
adventures and the unknown.
You bid me to close my eyes to the world and
taste the sweet fruit of your selfless labor.
I am captivated by your love.
You have abundantly blessed me

I love you from the depth of my very being.

Marriage Changes Everything

Do you remember when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Were you excited? Was Jesus all you could think of?

I was in Vacation Bible School when I accepted Jesus. I bawled convulsively because I was a sinner. The Bible became my friend.

In high school, I continued to read my Bible, but at times, studies, friends, and boys held my thoughts captive. My hunger for more of God decreased, and my thoughts became more worldly. Yet, I began to pray for the man that God was preparing for me. Those prayers led me to form unspoken and unacknowledged expectations.

The day finally came, and I met my man.

Prayerfully Pausing … A Marvelous Moment

There are times when the words don’t come. Days when I’m so distraught, that words can’t describe the depth of my pain. Nights when I’m too exhausted to pray. Hours when I’m not sure what to pray. Minutes when I realize that the compromise soured. Friend, have you been there? What if the perplexing moments, the seconds that cause us to pause, are the touchpoints that God uses to lead us to joy?

The art is in the pause … the prayerful pause.

Unexpected Marvelous Marriage Moment

Happy Monday! Let’s start the week off with a Marvelous Marriage Moment.

Desmond and Clara Nistetter (My Daddy and Mama)

My Mama and Daddy dated each other throughout their marriage. Dated? Yes, they dated. They loved going out to dinner as a couple and with others. Their dates were special times, times of dressing up in their finest—Daddy in a suit and tie, Mama in heels, dress, and lots of jewelry … each heavily perfumed. Daddy was usually ready before Mama, and he waited in their formal living room. When she finally appeared, she lifted her arms, smiled, and twirled for Daddy. He clapped and told her how beautiful she was. She bowed her head and smiled. The perfect beginning to a love-filled evening.
