Do You Long for Peace?

“The mob rocked our friends’ cars. Kids were inside. They’ve threatened to target our kids on the school buses. Some women are taking their kids back to the states. I’m thinking of taking Kristin back.”

On April 14, 1986, America bombed Libya to retaliate for the country’s sponsorship of terrorism against Americans. We lived off base near Aviano Air Base in Italy, not far from terrorist headquarters.

Different threats today, but frightening circumstances bombard us.

What do you long for? Peace? Courage? Contentment? Boldness?

God is near. He protects, provides, and empowers.

COVID-19 Blessings

Jesus said to His disciples, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15

Surely the pandemic will be over by the end of July, I reasoned. Disappointment greeted me when I learned that the She Speaks Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina was canceled. An online version of the conference was being considered.

I signed up for the online conference, thinking that something was better than nothing, but really not expecting much.

After all, how could the planners create the experience of close contacts? That’s one of the benefits that an attendee wants from an in-person conference.

Tremendous disappointment.

Don’t Look Back … Focus Forward!

In this time of COVID-19, fire, hurricanes, financial loss, and much more, I find myself longing for the way things used to be. Do you also wish for the good times of 2019 or even the first few months of 2020?

Lot and his family enjoyed the good life in Sodom. It was much like our world today.

All of a sudden, Lot, his wife, and two daughters were yanked out of luxury and told to walk away and not look back.
