9/11 & 2020 – Never Forget!

“Wake up! A plane just crashed into the World Trade Center.”

Keith taught the night before, and we’d gone to bed around midnight.

Standing transfixed on the television, I’m weeping. He’s trying to make sense of what we’re seeing.

A second airplane crashed into the other Tower.

A third plane hit the Pentagon.

The fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.

Nineteen terrorists attacked America that day, killing almost 3,000 souls from 78 countries.

Evil changed the United States of America and the world forever.

We will never forget 9/11.

Nineteen years later, a pandemic, devasting fires, catastrophic hurricanes, financial and job loss, rampant rage, violent riots, a cancel culture, and unprecedented immorality plague America.

We will never forget 2020!

America is at a turning point.

COVID-19 Blessings

Jesus said to His disciples, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15

Surely the pandemic will be over by the end of July, I reasoned. Disappointment greeted me when I learned that the She Speaks Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina was canceled. An online version of the conference was being considered.

I signed up for the online conference, thinking that something was better than nothing, but really not expecting much.

After all, how could the planners create the experience of close contacts? That’s one of the benefits that an attendee wants from an in-person conference.

Tremendous disappointment.

Don’t Look Back … Focus Forward!

In this time of COVID-19, fire, hurricanes, financial loss, and much more, I find myself longing for the way things used to be. Do you also wish for the good times of 2019 or even the first few months of 2020?

Lot and his family enjoyed the good life in Sodom. It was much like our world today.

All of a sudden, Lot, his wife, and two daughters were yanked out of luxury and told to walk away and not look back.

Perseverance In The Fire

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith–more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire–may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:6-7

Hurricanes, fires, COVID-19, job loss, riots, protests, family tensions high. We are in a season of testing. Testing of our faith.
