Like King David and his army, we may feel totally defeated. Perhaps we’ve lost hope. America is in turmoil. God’s people are crying out to God as David cried out to God in Psalm 60.
O God, You have cast us off;
You have broken us down;
You have been displeased;
Oh, restore us again!
You have made the earth tremble;
You have broken it;
Heal its breaches, for it is shaking.
You have shown Your people hard things;
You have made us drink the wine of confusion.
You have given a banner to those who fear You,
That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah
That Your beloved may be delivered,
Save with Your right hand, and hear me.
Restore Your people, oh, my God. You’re righteously displeased with us. We’re trembling because of what the future may bring. Heal our land, Lord. We’ve seen and experienced hard things. Help us to know what Your will is and which way You want us to go.
We confess that we have turned from Your ways. Return America to You. There is no God like You.
In spite of the COVID-19, in spite of the financial loss, in spite of the marriage turbulence, in spite of the sickness, in spite of the lawlessness, in spite of the murders, in spite of the racism, we know this: Your banner of love and protection is over Your people.
We love the truth, for Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and we display our banner. You are our banner.
Deliver Your beloved people. Save us with Your right hand and hear us. Revive us. We ask for Your healing, Your protection, Your restoration, Your everlasting love, Your awakening, and Your revival.
And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse,
Who shall stand as a banner to the people;
For the Gentiles shall seek Him,
And His resting place shall be glorious. Isaiah 11:10
Jesus, You are our banner, and we rest in You.
Father, Your banner of protection is love, a love that is stronger, more enduring, and abundantly generous. We delight in You.
“Through God we will do valiantly,
For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.” Psalm 60:12
Great is our Lord! He reigns in glory, majesty, power, and love!
In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
