Jesus, the Perfect Sacrifice, Loves You

Frustrated because you can’t seem to be the kind of person that you want to be?

Although you get up in the morning and you tell yourself that you will be kind, not offend, and have a great outlook, you slip up before you get out the door.

You think no one cares.

There is someone who cares deeply. In fact, He loves you. Jesus loves you.

All of us have sinned, fallen short of God’s requirements. That’s you and me. We’re all failures.

The consequences of that sin is death and separation from God forever–hell. But God, in all His glory, loved you and me so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, into the world.

Jesus shed the glory that He had in heaven with God to enter the world as a baby, born to a poor virgin and a carpenter who was engaged to her. Jesus walked the countryside proclaiming “the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” He taught the people, healed all who came to Him, raised the dead, and performed miracles. Jesus showed the people God in the flesh. He lived His life serving others and loving others.

No greater love has a man than to lay His life down for others. That is what Jesus did for you, for me. He who never sinned became sin, your sin, my sin. He paid the price we owed, death.

Jesus was the Perfect Sacrifice.

Light of the World … the Christmas Gift

Light Parade 2012

The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:5

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

One day, Jesus stepped out of eternity into time to dwell with men and women.

This Light of the World walked among men and women, and they watched Him as He turned water into wine, healed the sick, opened blind eyes, raised the dead, calmed the sea, and fed the thousands.

They observed the Light, the colors of His glory, but like the time lapse of photography, the colors and light blurred their vision – a colorful tapestry of purity and glory that they loved to be around. Yet, they did not comprehend this Light, this glory.

Not until His work was finished on the cross, and He was raised from the dead were men and women able to understand this Light.

The Light of the World came to offer eternal life with Him – a free gift. A free gift to men and women, but this gift cost Jesus everything.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

The gift of Christmas. A gift of the Light of the World. A gift of His everlasting love.

His lovingkindness caused Jesus to shed His glory for a time, enter the skin of a baby, grow up in a small town, and walk the hillsides of this earth on His way to die on the cross to pay the price for our sins.

An incomprehensible gift of lovingkindness!

My prayer for you:

Light of the World, shine in our hearts as we reflect upon this miracle birth and this gift that bestows everlasting life through Your love. Thank You for Your gift. We pray for wisdom as we behold the glory of Your light.

May you and your family be awestruck by the Light of the World and the miraculous gift that is yours. May you possess this precious promise.
