Can You Imagine Drawing Near to God in His Throne Room?

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”Isaiah 6:1-7

Do you remember Sammy Davis Jr? This amazing man sang, danced, acted, and joked his way into my heart. He visited Clark AB in the Philippines and performed for the troops when Keith was stationed there. Keith and I were fortunate enough to attend a reception with him after the performance. Although he walked by, I was in so much awe of him that I didn’t stick my hand out to shake his hand until Keith got frustrated with me and pushed me to shake his hand!

If I was in that much awe of Sammy Davis Jr., how much more awestruck am I going to be when I approach the throne of grace and mercy?

The Key to Being Blessed

“Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”Luke 1:45

Blessed because you believe? That’s the story of the Christian life, isn’t it? From Genesis to Revelation, we read of men and women who received promises from God, and they believed in those promises. Sometimes, they had to wait a long time for those promises to become reality, and sometimes, they never saw those promises in their lifetimes. But they believed, and they were blessed.

The promise that Gabriel revealed to Mary was unthinkable. Mary, an unmarried teenager, a virgin, engaged to a poor carpenter, learned that her womb would carry the Messiah, the Savior of Israel, the Savior of the world.

How can this be?

8 Reasons to Believe God for Healing

Great Wall looking back
Six months after the Lord healed me, I climbed half-way up the Great Wall of China (only halfway because the bus was going to leave). I would not have been able to climb the steps without healing.

Wednesday will be the eighth anniversary of the Lord’s healing. On November 21, 2010, Jesus healed me of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, confirmed a miracle by my doctor. I struggled for about 15 years with pain, fibro fog, and other issues. I was about to resign from the job I thought God had chosen for me when God healed me. Sometimes, God brings those of us who are strong-willed and A-types to our knees in utter hopelessness before we will give Him control of our lives, our bodies, and our circumstances, even though we try. In our weaknesses, He is strong!

The next two days are dedicated to Jehovah Rapha, God our Healer. Continue reading 8 Reasons to Believe God for Healing

God’s Mystery Revealed

Colliseum Entrance - 1

There’s just something about a good mystery that I like. What about you? Do you like to look for the clues? Do you feel elation when you discover the answer?

Keith was in the Air Force for 22 years, and we lived in the Philippines, Italy, the East and West Coasts and in the Midwest. We enjoyed unwrapping the mystery of the differences in the lifestyles, priorities, values, and ways of thinking of the different cultures. Yes, people on the East Coast have very different ways of “doing life” than Californians.

Have you ever felt like some passages in the Bible are a mystery to you? You see the words, but you don’t understand them, nor do you understand how to apply the passage to your life. Continue reading God’s Mystery Revealed

Broken Way

Ann Voskamp’s The Broken Way challenges readers to dig deep within themselves. We’re prompted to ask the gritty questions.
