The Creator of the Universe Invites Us to Know Him

Have you wondered how we can know God? The Creator of the universe invites us to know Him. Imagine a lifetime of talking with our Creator, studying His Word, and walking with Him hand in hand. With each step, God reveals Himself to us through ever-increasing learning that deepens our understanding of the breadth, length, height, and depth of His love for you and me (Ephesians 3:14-19).

When you meditate on God’s attributes, are you struck with wonder and awe?

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!

“For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor?”

“Or who has given a gift to Him that He might be repaid?”

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen. (Romans 11:33-36 ESV)

How can the created (you and me) understand the depth of the riches, wisdom, and knowledge of our holy God?

God’s Invitation

God invites us to know Him and to grow in our relationship with Him.

Our Holy God wants us to call Him Abba Father, the equivalent of Daddy, because we have received the Spirit of adoption as God’s sons and daughters, Romans 8:15.

Our Response

A. W. Tozer writes that we can know more about God through prayer, meditating on God’s Word, and “well-disciplined labor” (study)[1]

When we lift up our hearts, minds, souls, and hands to the Lord, He takes us by the hand and leads us on the path of life He has prepared for us.

“ You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11 ESV)

J.I. Packer writes in Knowing God, “How can we turn our knowledge about God into knowledge of God? The rule for doing this is demanding, but simple. It is that we turn each truth that we learn about God into matter for meditation before God, leading to prayer and praise to God.”[2]

“I will meditate on Your precepts and fix my eyes on Your ways.”

(Psalm 119:15 ESV)

Our Prayer

Abba Father, You are the Lord of the universe, All-Powerful, All-Knowing, All-Present, All in All, beyond our comprehension. Yet, You have called us to draw near to You and to know You, and You will draw near to us. Lord, like Moses, we want to see Your glory, to know You in ever-deepening ways. Fill our minds and hearts with the knowledge of You, O LORD, our Rock and our Redeemer. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
