Cori Dickess has poured out her heart to share her love for God’s Word in Unleash God’s Word in Your Life. She shared some very personal moments where she cried out to God and found that He was beside her each time working His plan in her life.
I loved that in chapter 3, “We Need to Pray,” Dickess uses the A.C.T.S. prayer pattern to show an example of how to use Scripture to unleash God’s Word in our hearts. The A.C.T.S. acronym leads us in Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication.
She gives several examples of Scriptures to pattern our prayers after. For adoration, Dickess provides a list of what we can pray to God about regarding His character traits or qualities. Scriptures that demonstrated those qualities followed each expression of adoration.
In chapter 4, “We Need to Put on the Armor of God,” Dickess indicates that God’s Word is the armor of God. I hadn’t thought of it in this way and am still contemplating this. She described the armor of God during the time of Jesus in different ways. For example, she indicated that the breastplate was like a modern flak jack that was more flexible.
Dickess indicates that God’s love language is obedience to Him. She links trusting God with our willingness to obey Him.
Dickess gives us six action steps to take.
- Reading His Word
- Meditating on His Word
- Praying to Him daily
- Using the armor of God
- Having an obedient heart
- Having faith in Him
A Prayer for You
Father, thank You for Cori Dickess and her love of Your Word. You are the Word of Life. May Your Word bless all Your people. Your Word is living and sharper than any two-edged sword. Give Your people a hunger for Your Word and a thirst for Your Living Water. Bless Cori and all that read this book. May it glorify You and bring Your people to a deeper relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
I was provided the final manuscript of Unleash God’s Word in Your Life for my honest review.
