What if we started the Christmas story by telling the Resurrection story? The Christmas and Resurrection stories are wrapped in eternal love.

Beginnings are special, aren’t they? They’re filled with hope for future success, joy, and love.

The birth of a baby melts my heart. Imagine, the birth of the promised Savior of God’s people.

Eternal Love wrapped in the flesh of a baby boy–the Son of God. It began long before His birth.

Eternal Love Created

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.”

(John 1:1-4, LSB)

Jesus, the Word, the Son of God, was in the beginning with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, and the world was created. It was perfect. Until Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the one fruit in the Garden of Eden that God had told them not to eat. Fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Sin entered the world. Sin separated Adam and Eve from God’s presence. Our sin separates us from God.

Eternal Love Saved

But God made a way for us to behold His glory as Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden.

“For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, 
so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” 

(John 3:16, NLT)

God wrapped us in eternal love by sending Jesus to pay the price for our sins. Jesus took your sins and my sins upon Himself on the cross. He died on that cross because of my sins and your sins. God’s one and only unique Son was buried.

But three days later, He rose from the dead. Jesus appeared to His disciples many times and to 500 people at once.

Now, He sits at the right hand of God. Our Savior is speaking to God on our behalf.

One day He’s coming back. One day, those who trust in Jesus will see Him face-to-face.

Let’s remember Christmas today beginning with the victory of our Lord Jesus.

Eternal Love Gives Eternal Life

• Our King of Kings is coming soon. (Revelation 19:16)
• Eternal Life conquered death. (1 Peter 3:18-22)
• Our Savior brought peace with God. (Romans 5:1)
• The Anointed One brought forgiveness. (1 John 1:9)
• Our Redeemer paid the price for the sins of the world. (Romans 6:10)
• Our Friend gave His life for a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45)
• The Son of Man washed dirty feet. (John 13:1-17)
• Our Wonderful Counselor taught us the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (John 14:6)
• The Mighty God calmed the winds and the sea and fed thousands. (Matthew 8:26; Matthew 15:38)
• Our Everlasting Father sent His Son to save the world. (John 3:16)
• The Prince of Peace raised the dead, healed the sick, and blessed the children. (Matthew 11:5, 19:14)
• Our Prince of Peace reconciled our relationship with God. (Acts 10:36)
• The 12-year-old Son of God astonished the teachers in the temple. (Luke 2:41-52)
• Messiah received gifts from wise men. (Matthew 2:1-12)
• Our Lord was adored by shepherds. (Luke 2:8-20)
• God’s Son’s birth was proclaimed by heaven’s angels. (Luke 2:9-15)
• The Child of the Most High God lay in a manger. (Luke 2:7)
• Holy and Unfailing Love shed His glory, became a man, and dwelt among us. (John 1:14)
• The Word was with God, was God, and was the Creator of all. (John 1:1-3)
