“She leads a life of thanksgiving.”
That’s what I would like for people to say about me. How about you?
I get caught up in the busyness of the day, my “to-do list,” that I forget to stop and remember how blessed I am–even in the chaos of today’s demands.
This Thanksgiving, let’s focus on 3 steps we can take towards a life of thanksgiving.
3 Steps To a Life of Thanksgiving

1. Learn God’s Ways and Marvel
“For You are great and do wondrous things; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O LORD, that I may walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. I give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify Your name forever. For great is Your steadfast love toward me; You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.”
Psalm 86:10-13 (ESV)
When we learn how great God is, we will want to walk in His truth. His love for us is unwavering.
God has saved those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We are saved to enjoy being in His presence forever.
How can we not rejoice and give thanks?
May you meditate on God’s great love for you and walk in His truth.

2. Give Generously
“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.”
2 Corinthians 9:10-12 (ESV)
We are looking forward to eating to our fill today. Stuffing our tummies with delicacies we reserve for once or twice a year.
But there are people who don’t have enough to fill their tummies to the max.
What a privilege the Lord has given us to give generously to people throughout the year!
Verse 12 tells us that giving is a ministry, a service of providing for others.
May your generosity overflow in many thanksgivings to God.

3. Love Lavishly
“And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
Colossians 3:14-17 (ESV)
When the Word of God dwells in our minds and hearts, we can enjoy the peace of Christ.
Thankfulness fills our hearts, words, and actions.
Have you found yourself so thankful for what God has done in your life that you burst out in song?
As we remember God’s blessings and great love for us, we want to represent Him well. We want to do everything as if we are doing it for Him. In fact, our actions reflect our love for God and His people … good or bad.
May your Thanksgiving abide in the lavish love of God.
Please share what you are giving thanks for.
