When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:13-14
Solomon had just finished building, dedicating the temple, and praying that the Lord would listen to the Israelites’ prayers and have regard to their prayers. The God of the universe answered Solomon with the promises that He would hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
Today has been declared National Day of Prayer.
As God’s people, let us humble ourselves, pray and seek God’s face, and forsake our wicked ways and ask God to hear us, forgive us, and heal our land, America, and to heal the world of its sin and disease.
My prayer
O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like You, in heaven or on earth, keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart. Behold, heaven cannot contain You. Father, hear our prayer and heal our land. O LORD my God, listen to our cry and listen to the prayer that Your people pray. Listen to the prayers and pleas of Your people and forgive us of our sins against You. We humble ourselves before You and revere Your goodness and mercy. Blessed Redeemer, let Your eyes be open and Your ears attentive to the prayer of Your people. O LORD God, remember Your steadfast love. Abundantly pour out Your wisdom upon Your people, not the wisdom of the world but Your perfect wisdom. Guard our hearts with Your peace, a peace that passes all understanding, a peace that calms in the midst of a storm, in the midst of a pandemic. Father, bring a powerful awakening and revival in America and throughout the world. Show Your glory, Your power, Your healing, so that people will know You for who You are. For nothing is impossible for You! You are God Almighty, Ruler of the Universe, the God Who Heals, the God Who Saves, the Merciful God, and Righteous Redeemer. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
