Does Jesus Call You “Friend”?

Acquaintances come and go, but friends stay close … when they can. I had a close friend in junior high school, that’s middle school today. My family moved away, but she came to stay with me during the summer. We graduated from high school and went to different colleges. I got married. After Keith graduated, we took off for adventures around the world by way of the Air Force.

Sadly, I lost track of Emily. Until she found me via Facebook.

Are You a Friend of Jesus?

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:12-15

In school, I had two best friends (I’m not sure how I could have had more than one best friend, but I did). We hugged, talked, shared, smiled, and knew each others’ secrets and dreams. The friendship was more than just having fun with each other. We wanted to bless each other. We loved each other.
