The fullness of God’s grace overflows in the lives of those who put their trust in Jesus. I marvel at how gracious God has been to me. Blessing upon blessing, forgiveness upon forgiveness. Overwhelmingly breathtaking. Life giving and life-changing. How is God’s grace shaping your life?
God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense—Grace.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV)
God’s Grace. God’s gift—salvation through faith. Nothing we can do. All God: God’s grace, God’s gift of faith, God’s gift of salvation.
Grace for grace. Jesus, our Savior, gave us grace and truth. Much has been written about God’s grace.
“J. I. Packer suggests that grace is simply God’s love demonstrated toward those who deserve the opposite. God’s grace is His gift-giving life, and the gift is Himself.” (Lexham Survey of Theology, pronouns referring to God are capitalized)[i]
How have you seen God’s grace work in your life?
A.W. Pink writes that grace is absent in other religions.
“Grace is a truth peculiar to divine revelation. It is a concept to which the unaided powers of man’s mind never rises. Proof of this is in the fact that where the Bible has not gone ‘grace’ is unknown. Very often missionaries have found, when translating the Scriptures into native tongues of the heathen, they were unable to discover a word which in any way corresponds to the Bible word ‘grace.’
Grace is absent from all the great heathen religions—Brahmanism, Buddhism, Mohammedanism, Confucianism, Zoroastrianism. Even nature does not teach grace: break her laws and you must suffer the penalty.” (Pink, The Attributes of God, pp.161-162)[ii]
Jen Wilkin writes,
“No sooner does sin enter the garden than grace appears, clothing Adam and Eve in animal skins God Himself supplies. It is God who provides the first sacrifice, as it is God who provides the last. Grace from the garden to Golgotha. Grace from Golgotha to this generation. And grace shall lead us home.” (Jen Wilkin, In His Image, p. 88) [iii]
