“For it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:16 (CSB)
God gave the Law to the Israelites. The Law showed the way God wanted His people to follow Him. They were to consider themselves separated from the world and its values and living for God. The apostle Peter writes that Christians are separated from the world and its values and living as God’s people. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior from sins and the Lord of your life, you are holy to the Lord.

“Don’t think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.”
Matthew 5:17 (CSB)
The purpose of God’s Law has been fulfilled through Jesus. It is holy, just, and good. The Law showed us our sins.
We received freedom from our sins and the newness of life when we accepted Jesus as our Lord.
The Holy Spirit came to live within us. And the Holy Spirit is transforming us in the newness of life. We’re bearing holy fruit to the Lord.
The Holy Spirit transforms us to walk in a new life and bear holy fruit to God.

The Law reveals the holy standards of God and how we have sinned. It shows us the dead fruit we have produced.
God’s holy Law points us to the One who fulfilled the Law for us.
Jesus.
And we can serve in the newness of the Spirit.
God loves us so much that He gave us the Law. If we use it as a list of do’s and don’ts, we’ll soon see that we can’t keep the Law, and we’ll be very discouraged.
Only one man could keep all the Law – Jesus.
Jesus fulfilled the Law and summarized it as loving God with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and loving our neighbors as ourselves. All your sins and my sins, all the sins of the past, present, and future were placed on Jesus on the cross.
Jesus paid the price for our sins. He suffered and bled on that cross.
Jesus gave up His Spirit and died for you and me on the cross.
Three days later, He rose from the dead and conquered death. Jesus is the Perfect Lamb of God, the once and for-all Sacrifice.
Jesus fulfilled the Law for YOU and me.
If you’ve accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are sons and daughters of God Almighty.
You are free from the chains of sin.
- Dead to sin.
- Freed from sin’s slavery.
- Freed to be one with Jesus.
- Greatly loved.
- Chosen.
- Joint heirs with Jesus.
- Friends of Jesus.
- Spirit-filled.
- Holy fruit growers.
- HOLY TO THE LORD!
Our Father in Heaven, You are holy, pure, and majestic. You are the Creator of the world, all-powerful, and all-knowing. You lovingly made us. You gave Your Son to die for us so that we could enjoy Your holy presence forever. Such knowledge of You takes our breath away. Thank You, Lord. We give our lives to You and separate ourselves from the world to live holy lives for You. Produce holy fruit in us and empower us to bring honor and glory to Your name. Amen.
