  1. I appreciated this video devotion Karen in every way. I am struggling in the midst of a myriad of issues. I prayed during my emotionally dark walk tonight for the Lord to infuse me with His light, strength, and hope. All of these are waning causing this season to be felt only as the cause of additional thus weighty ‘to dos’.

Too, with friends being so overwhelmed in their own lives, I have been impressed with taking all to the Lord. Why is that so hard to do?!?

It IS hard to live immersed in this physical world and its onslaught of leaden felt difficulties. My physical skin desires physical comfort…YET, I KNOW that it is not that which satisfies as my spirit is only comforted by coming before the Lord of its life. This reminds me of the song lyrics: ‘You’re blessed if you’ve been torn apart, you’re blessed if you’ve a broken heart.’

I am now yet again confronted with my felt answer to that “Why?” …. Because by that I KNOW I AM weak and that I’m ONLY strong in Christ. I know I NEED the Lord. Yet I also KNOW my flesh is weak, Lord! … keep my spirit willing!

So then… Lord, I come to you with the willingness I do have, strengthen me so I can unite whole heartedly to reflect You in this ever darkening world down here. I KNOW I can only get through and participate in this Christmas season by Your grace and strength. I am only here because of You, help me to obey and serve You, to fulfill Your will, for Your eternal glory in these last days. There are so many still lost. I acknowledge, ‘Only one life, twill soon be past, only what is done for You will last.’ Help me Lord to live this life I did not choose and continue to choose to live out that which You have planned. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

So… All that (hope I did not write too much!) to register… Above is my first step in preparing for the season of celebrating the Birth of our Saviour who sacrificed Himself for the gift of our eternal salvation.

The Lord used your devotion Karen, to stop, be still and go before Him, thank you 🙂

    Lord, keep me in You.

    1. KJ, I am sorry for your emotionally dark walk with the Lord tonight. Please meditate on this, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

God can use your dark walk to strengthen you, give you hope, and equip you to minister to others.

May you seek the things above, and set your minds on the things above, not on the earth and its troubles. Your life is with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3

KJ, when David was depressed and thought that all was against him, he cried out to the Lord as you have done, but in the middle of his crying out about his troubles, he focused on His Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace, and he began praising the Lord.

What I have asked others to do when they were depressed and afflicted is each day write 3 things that they are thankful for, and when they are depressed, to read over the week’s thanksgiving and thank God. Will you commit to do this for the rest of the month? Please pray about it.

I would love to keep in touch with you and find out how you are doing. I’ll be praying for you.

May the God of wonders fill your heart with thanksgiving and rejoicing. Karen

      1. Dear Karen, My heartfelt thanks for what you shared and your suggestions. Simply said here, I feel deeply grateful for your offer of reaching out. I have a notebook I will set out after sending this to follow through with your suggestions with the Lord’s help.

        1. KJ, Have you signed up for the free dowload, a 7-day devotional, “Abounding Hope: Finding Hope in Chaos”? I added a link to it in the most current post, but it’s here, too, https://bit.ly/2W1z6v0
