Internal and external threats bombard us and wreak havoc on the unity of our marriages, our families, our workplaces, our churches, our communities, and our nation.
When I encounter threats, sometimes I lash out in anger, cower, or consult a friend.
Not Nehemiah. He paused to consider, confronted offenders, presented a plan, demanded a vow, and set an example.
Lord, God Almighty, You know all things, and You unite all Your people. Thank You for Nehemiah’s example. We stand in awe of Your great compassion, the Holy Spirit’s convicting guidance, and Jesus’ servant’s heart. We see that in Nehemiah, and we marvel. Help us, Lord. We cast our lives before You as a living sacrifice. May others see You in us. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
