“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Have you ever prayed the Scripture? Today, I prayed Matthew 11:28 with a woman. Let’s call her “Missy.” It went something like this:
Come. Jesus, You tell Missy to come, not to go. Thank You that You ask Missy to get close to You.
To. Oh, Lord, I thank You that You are asking Missy to move towards You instead of away from You.
Me ... Come to Me. Creator of the Universe, Healer, Comforter, You’re asking Missy to come to You! Thank You.
All. Missy is included. She can come to You! Anyone can come.
Who … All who. That’s Missy, Jesus. Missy is intended in Your request.
Are. You’re talking about the present, right now. You’re telling Missy to come to You in the present.
Weary. Jesus, Missy is so weary, so tired, so exhausted. She has nothing to offer You. Yet, You are so gracious, You’re taking her weariness.
And. Jesus, there’s more to her weariness, her exhaustion, and You already know it! Thank You.
Heavy-laden … Weary AND heavy-laden. Jesus, Missy is so heavy-laden with pain, with sickness, with all that she has to do. It’s overwhelming, Lord.
And. There’s more, Lord? It’s sweet just to be asked to come to You. And gives Missy hope!
I. You, Jesus. You are Missy’s Savior. You are her Morning Star.
Will. You’re going to do something. You are going to act in Missy’s life.
Give … Will give. You’ve given Your life for Missy, for the world. What else will You give?
You. Give Missy. Jesus, You’re going to give Missy something … a gift … because she comes to You. Thank you, Jesus.
Rest. Oh my Jesus, Missy needs Your gift so desperately! A rest that is filled with comfort, peace, and such love. All she has to do is come to You with her weariness and her burdens, her pain, her sickness, her struggles. You’ll give her rest.
Thank You, Father for Missy and for these readers. Thank You for loving Missy and all who come to You. Draw them close to You and take their weariness, their pain, their sickness, their struggles and replace them with Your perfect rest.
To God be the glory and honor and praise! We love You, Lord God Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, Redeemer of the world, our glorious Savior!
