What if we thought of Christmas as God wrapping us in His eternal love? When we think of Christmas, we think of Gabriel announcing to unmarried Mary that she will bear the Savior of the world. We think of the trek from Nazareth to Bethlehem and no place for Mary to give birth to Jesus. We think of the manger, the shepherds coming to see Jesus, and the gifts of the wise men. Sixteen days ago and 6,354 miles later, we landed at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport. The next day, we drove 186 miles across Italy’s boot. Little did we know, that our lives would never be the same. In the Abruzzo Region, unexpected family awaited us with unexpected blessings.
