10 Years Healed! A Name For Each Year

Come and listen, all you who fear God,
and I will tell you what he did for me.
For I cried out to him for help,
praising him as I spoke.
Psalm 66:16-17

There is no cure for fibromyalgia.

Brain fog, pain, fatigue, and depression plagued me for about 15 years.

Pills for pain, pills for sleep, pills to wake me up, pills to counteract the effects of the other pills, and handfuls of supplements filled my days and nights.

The work that I thought God had placed before me demanded too much from me, and my doctor encouraged me to resign.

One Saturday, I told God that I must have misunderstood His direction and that I would resign that Monday.

“There’s that healing service tonight? Want to go?”

“Sure.”

Nothing more was said.

We showed up. Worship was blessed.

Then our friends went forward. Deaf ears now heard. Cataracts dissolved.

When the call came for those in pain, Keith grabbed my arm and marched me to the front.

No pain! Joy unspeakable. Healed!

Ten years ago today, God healed me of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, confirmed a miracle by my doctor.

Six months after God’s healing, I climbed halfway up the Great Wall of China. Not possible with fibromyalgia. I didn’t make it to the top because the bus was waiting.

10 Names That Heal

  1. Our Comforter. God comforts us in our pain so that we can comfort others who go through similar troubles, 1 Corinthians 1:3-4.
  2. Almighty God. Sometimes, the affliction protects us from ourselves, 2 Corinthians 12:7-10. To keep Paul from being conceited, God gave him a thorn in the flesh. Paul prayed three times for God to remove it, but God told Paul that His grace was sufficient, for God’s power is made perfect in weakness.
  3. Majesty on High. When we shift our focus from our problems to the majesty of God, we have faith that the battle is the Lord’s, and as we relinquish control, His perfect plan for us will take place, 1 Samuel 17:47, Psalm 7, Jeremiah 29:11.
  4. The God Who Hears. If we abide in Jesus and His words, then we can ask whatever we wish, and it will be done for us, John 15:7. The key is that we are asking according to God’s will because we are dwelling in Jesus.
  5. The Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and The End, The First and The Last. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Hebrews 13:8. He healed yesterday, and He heals today and tomorrow, Luke 17:12-19, Revelation 21:4, and many more verses.
  6. Our Healer. Jesus chooses to heal many, Mark 1:40, John 5:5-9, Matthew 12:15. Jesus touched the leper, and he was cleansed. There were many sick people at the Pool of Bethesda, and Jesus walked to one man who had been sick for 38 years and asked if He wanted to be healed. At other times, He healed all the sick who came to Him.
  7. All-Powerful One. Waiting on God and expecting Him to work in our lives increases our strength and our faith, Isaiah 40:31, Psalm 46:10. As we quiet our thoughts and strive to know God, He equips us to do the works that He has prepared for us to accomplish.
  8. The Perfect Sacrifice. Giving God everything … our bodies, our thoughts, our actions, and our sicknesses … becoming a living sacrifice is an act of worship that can transform our minds, for Jesus gave the world everything. He gave Himself to pay the price for our sins. He is the Perfect Sacrifice, Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 10:10-12.
  9. Great Provider. Long for God first. Seek His kingdom first, and everything else will be added, Matthew 6:33.
“I don’t care if You heal me, Lord. I just want more of You.” When I prayed those words in surrender, God healed me.
  10. King of Kings and Lord of Lords. There is no sickness or pain at the end of the story, Isaiah 35:5-10, Revelation 21:4. Jesus reigns in the new heaven and earth, the New Jerusalem, for He conquered sin and death. Even so, come Lord, Jesus.

Do you long for healing? Spiritual healing? Emotional healing? Physical healing?

Be still and know God. Wait on Him. Seek the things of heaven. God will not disappoint you. He has plans for you, and they are good. They are filled with a future and hope.

Father, thank You for Your healing grace. Work in the lives of Your children. Forgive us for our sins. Bless us and keep us. Make Your face to shine upon us and be gracious to us. We love You, Lord and look forward to what You will do in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
