Sixty-six books, 40 authors, yet God-breathed, 2 Timothy 3:16,

The Bible reveals a love so deep men and women cannot grasp its totality. We watch this love unfold as God breathes into Adam and gives him life. We see God walking with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day – the way it was meant to be. We frown as Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit and hide from God. We marvel when God promises One who will pay the price for their sin and the sins of future generations, so that their relationship will be restored with God.

We rejoice as we see the scarlet thread of Jesus throughout the Old and New Testaments.

The Word of God is a love letter to men and women. It’s a letter that reveals the character of a holy and righteous Father Who loves His creation so much that He gave all that He had to renew it.

O, how He loves you and me!

That’s why we need to read His Word, memorize it, meditate on it day and night, and cherish it.

5 Reasons

1. We can know God and follow Him because His Word is eternal and never changes.
   From beyond the beginning of the world and into the rest of eternity, Scripture was given to God’s children to meditate on day and night.
   The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8)
   Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away (Matthew 24:35)
   “The power and glory of heaven have confirmed each sentence which the mouth of the Lord has spoken, and so confirmed it that to all eternity it must stand the same,—settled in heaven, where nothing can reach it.” Spurgeon
2. God keeps His Word and stands by His children. From Genesis to Revelation, we have a tapestry of promises fulfilled and generations preserved.
   For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5
3. God’s Word brings life. God spoke and the heavens and earth were created. Genesis 1
   For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
4. God’s Word sustains the earth or makes it stand fast.
   And He [Jesus] is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17
5. All creation exists to serve the purposes of God. As God’s creation, we exist to serve Him. Hebrews 9:14
   “A striking feature of these verses is the coupling of God’s creative, world-sustaining word with His law for man. Both are the product of the same ordering mind; and not only men but ‘all things’ are His ‘servants’.” (Kidner)

My prayer

Our loving Father in heaven, thank You for Your amazing love. All creation sings Your praises. You have given us Your very Being as a gift! We have sinned, Father, and fallen so short of Your precepts and laws. Forgive us, Father, and restore us through Your dear Son, Jesus. Thank You for giving Jesus as the perfect sacrifice, laying all my sins and the sins of the world upon Him as He hung on the cross. He paid the price, such a costly price, so that all who cling to Jesus and believe upon His name will be saved and live with You in eternity. We praise You and hallow Your name. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever! Amen.
