Vietnam Women’s War Memorial in Washington, D.C.  An estimated 11,000 women served in Vietnam during the war; 90 percent were nurses.

Isn’t that the Christian walk?

1. Freedom. We have been called to freedom. Freedom from the tyranny of sin; freedom to live in Christ. Galatians 5:1
2. Valor. The Lord appeared to Gideon and called him a mighty man of valor. What did he do? He obeyed and trusted God, going against the great army of the Midianites. God fought the battle and won! Judges 6:12
3. Purity. God’s followers are called to have pure thoughts, to think about all that is good and to walk in purity. Philippians 4:8;  Titus 2:5
4. Perseverance. God’s great and precious promises are the Christian’s. Our faith supplies moral excellence, working knowledge, nurturing self control, generating perseverance, growing godliness, resulting in brotherly kindness, and producing love. 2 Peter 1:4-7

Sacrifice to the point of death, all for freedom. Freedom for you and me. Freedom hard won by valor, purity, and perseverance.

Thank God Almighty for the men and women who have laid down their lives for our freedom.

Thank God Almighty for Jesus who laid down His life for your freedom, my freedom and the freedom of generations past and present. Freedom from sin and death. Freedom to live as His co-heir of the Kingdom of God.

My prayer

Father in heaven, Thank You for America’s freedom. Thank You for the sacrifice of the men and women who have given their lives, their limbs, their health, and their years for American men, women, and children. Bless their families. We honor them and thank them. Thank You for the freedom that Jesus gave us freely through His death on the cross. Let that sink in deeply as we remember His great sacrifice. Thank You for the freedom we have in You. Show us how to live out our freedom promises honoring You and honoring America. We bow down to You and praise You. Amen.
