Orlando Tragedy, A Call for Prayer

Version 2

Then the LORD appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:12

After King Solomon finished the temple and his own house, God gave Solomon a great promise, when tragedy came, if God’s people humbled themselves, prayed and sought God, turning from their sin, God would hear, forgive, and heal our land.

God’s people, not the country.

God’s people.

Tragedy hit America today.

God’s people.

It’s time for God’s people to act. Let’s humble ourselves, pray, seek God, turn from our sin, and wait on God.

My prayer:

Father, You are our Great Creator, our Savior, our Sustainer, our Healer. Your people have sinned. We have not represented You well. Please forgive us. We pray for the Orlando victims, their families, the first responders, the care givers, and those touched by this senseless tragedy. Touch all involved. Use the Christians in Orlando to show Your great love to all involved. Forgive us, Lord, and heal our land, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
