Finally, the time had arrived. Jesus’ time. The time to show Himself as the long-awaited Messiah. The Great Promise!

Jesus mounted a young colt and rode down the Mount of Olives as the crowd hailed Him as King, laying down their cloaks and palm branches before Jesus, their King.

As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Luke 19:37-38

Word had spread about His mighty works … healing the blind, deaf, and lame; feeding the 5,000, calming the storm, and raising Lazarus from the dead. This Son of Man was the Messiah destined to save all of Israel and set  up His kingdom.

He was born for this. It was prophesied. It was promised.

Psalm 118 was one of the traditional Psalms that the Jews sang during the Passover feast.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. Blessed be he that comes in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD. Psalm 118:24-26

Jesus rode the colt on the same route the Passover Lamb took that day.

The LORD is God,
and he has made his light to shine upon us.
Bind the festal sacrifice with cords,
up to the horns of the altar! Psalm 118:27

Jesus was the festal sacrifice. It would not be necesary to pay for the sins of the people again with a Passover Lamb. Jesus was the Passover Lamb.

Jesus paid the price, once, for all. All that was necessary to be saved from sin after Jesus was crucified was to abide in Him.

That is the greatest miracle of all, isn’t it?

Our Great God, our Creator God, gave the world the greatest gift He could ever give, His only begotten Son, Jesus, as the One who would pay the price of our sins, death on the cross, so that we could live with Him forever.

In Jesus, we have peace with God.

In Jesus, we can come boldly before the throne of God and call Him “Abba, Father” …

God, I am so sorry that I have sinned against You. I want to know You. I want the gift of salvation that You have for me. Please forgive me of my sins. I want to give my life to You. Teach me how to know You and to abide in Jesus. Thank You for saving me, so that I can live with You forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Father in heaven, thank You for sending Jesus to live among us, to teach us, to perform mighty works for us, to show us perfection, and finally, to pay the price of our sins, so that we would not have to live eternity away from You. Father, Your love is higher, wider, and deeper than we can understand. Your grace and mercy are beyond measure. If there are any who are reading this post who do not know You, I pray for them, Father. Show Yourself to them, and soften their hearts to trust You for their salvation.
