I am weary with my crying out;
my throat is parched.

with waiting for my God. Psalm 69:3

This weary tomato plant produced many tomatoes during the summer, fall, and yes, it even produced a few tomatoes during the California winter, and now into March.

A Christian’s spring is filled with new life, new passion, and blossoms of new ministry opportunities or an expanded ministry.

Summer arrives with the Son shining on our ministries, the blossoms turn to fruit.

Fall arrives, and some of us continue to produce fruit, some more abundantly than others.

Then, the winter arrives, and we continue our ministries. Sometimes, we become weary. Our spirits feel dry. Fruit becomes sparse.

Just like this tomato plant, we need to preserve the fruit, examine our walk, and cut out the dead acts, the dead branches.

I’ll be picking these tomatoes today and cutting the branches down to the soil. I’ll wait for the spring sun to bring new life to this tired tomato plant.

But as for me, my prayer is to you, O LORD.
At an acceptable time, O God,
in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness. Psalm 69:13

The waiting is so important. Just as the seasons are important to tomatoes, seasons in the life of Christians are important.

If you are in need, there is an acceptable time for God to bring new life and new fruit into your walk. There is an acceptable time for that miracle, that healing. What are you to do?

Pray, cut out the dead branches, and wait upon God.

My prayer for you

Father, the abundance of Your steadfast love refreshes our weary spirits. Our prayer is for Your Son to shine upon our lives and produce the fruit that You have prepared for us. Take us by our right hands and lead us from the winter into the spring. We wait upon You, O Lord.
