Pluck the pleasures from God’s right hand!

Calamansi

You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:11

Keith and I lived in the Philippines for three years in the late 1980s. We enjoyed calamansi, small citrus fruit that is also known as the Philippine lime. The taste is a cross from a tangerine and a lime … sweet but tart.

We’ve not seen them in the grocery stores, nor in restaurants. I mentioned to a coworker who was traveling to the Philippines how much we squeezed calamansi juice on our papayas, fruit, mahi mahi and just about everything when we were there.

We wished that we could buy these little balls of delight here in Southern California.

She said her tree was loaded with them and that she would bring me some.

You can grow them here?

Of course!

This weekend, I purchased a calamondin tree … different name but same fruit. The tree was just 1/2 mile down the road.

I wonder how many blessings we long for, sometimes for years, and they are just around the corner if we look for them and take them.

My prayer for you

Father, thank You that You show us our path. Your presence brings us fullness of joy. Your right hand holds out pleasures beyond measure … all for our taking. May we dwell in Your presence and pluck the pleasures from Your right hand that only You hold out to us. We love You, Lord.

    Oh dear one you are a breath of fresh air that I needed!
    As I am coming up on our one year anniversary in Atlanta, I realize that once again it has been an extremely hard year- lots of lessons. Some were surprising because some were learning to stand up for myself, what I believe is right, quit letting some people out there browbeat me. Not your average lessons and not at my age! I haven’t written much this year because it is so difficult to share most lessons publicly without possibly offending people I don’t want offend. Of course the other reasons are the stroke, the injury done to me in the Chicago airport-which may mean a bad back the rest of my life and then the fall that fractured my arm and shoulder in November that I am still waiting to heal. A LOT of good reasons now that I list them!
    Well with the Lord’s timing, our 2014 should be better starting 2nd Quarter. I know He has told me so many days this month to wait for Him to act.

      My dear Cindy, I am so sorry that 2013 had so much adversity in it for you. I’m thinking of the Father sending the Holy Spirit to light upon Jesus as He came up out of the water and the Father saying, This is My Son in Whom I am well pleased.” And then the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted for 40 days! After He passed the test, His ministry began.

      My dear Cindy, your ministry is about to begin in a more powerful way. Look up and wait upon the Lord! His lovingkindness endures forever.

      Father, make Your face to shine upon Cindy. Lift up Your countenance upon her and give her peace.

      Many blessings and pleasures, Karen
