From the cave of my darkened bedroom, I tried to picture a life freed from the pain of fibromyalgia, the agony of the long, sleepless nights, and the bombardment of sensory overload. But water fell in front of the images, so that I saw only distortions of what could be. During these times, I turned from myself to Scriptures. The Psalms especially spoke to me as David poured out his heart, his “Why,” his anger … and then his praise. I learned from David that there is hope … and praise … and healing.

Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all my iniquities,
Who heals all my diseases;
Who redeems my life from the pit,
Who crowns me with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies my years with good things,
So that my youth is renewed like the eagle. Psalm 103:1-5

Surely my griefs [sickness] He Himself bore, And my sorrows [pains] He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten [struck down] of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for my transgressions, He was crushed for my iniquities; The chastening for my well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging I am healed. Isaiah 53:4-5

This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES.” Matthew 8:17

Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; Save me and I will be saved, For You are my praise.  Jeremiah 17:14

My prayer for you

These Scriptures are my heart’s cry and my hope for you, a hope that is expecting miracles. May your health be restored; may your pain dissolve, and may you recognize the great and precious promises and blessings that our Great Creator and Healer has for you. Only believe. He is ABLE.

    1. Yes. God is always present, it is us who leave His side. That does take work. Right now, our church ladies are getting ready to spend 10 weeks studying The Lord’s Prayer, Matthew 5:9-13. If we really understand who God is and our position before Him, if we understand that this majestic Creator, loves us so much that He sent His Son to suffer a horrific beating and death on the cross just to pay the price for our sins, if we understand that Jesus emptied Himself of the glory He had with our Father in Heaven to come to earth to serve us, teach us, heal us, raise us from the dead, and then be rejected by us, if we understand that Jesus rose from the dead and conquered death and Satan–all for us, if we understand that because of Jesus, we can enjoy eternity in His presence, then we must also empty ourselves, learn of Him, worship Him, and learn to pray without ceasing. In prayer, there is power. In prayer, there is healing. In prayer, there is true wisdom. In prayer, there is peace. In prayer, there is rest.

      The Israelites had reminders on the doorposts of their houses, on their bodies, and throughout their lives, memorials of the Lord’s works in their lives. I have a kite hung at the top of my window in the bathroom. Every morning when I shower, I see that kite. It’s a reminder that approximately 6 weeks after the Lord’s healing, I ran on a San Diego beach flying a heavy kite. Not possible, as you know, with fibro. On the entrance to our home, we have a cross and a Mezuzah to represent what the Israelites had on their doorposts. This helps me to focus on Jesus.

      Bless you. May the Lord give you an insatiable hunger for all that pertains to Him, and through that hunger, may you draw closer to Him. Karen

  1. The book of Job comes down to whether we are going through good or bad in our lives we must put all our faith and trust into Gods wisdom and all else will fall into place 😉✝️ So even though I’m in pain from fibromyalgia I can always put my faith and trust into The Lord that He will provide for me.

    1. Indeed! God has your best interests in mind and those of your children. Rest in that knowledge and like Job, meditate on the greatness of God and His majesty. Please walk through the book of Mark now and observe Jesus’ compassion, His miracles, and the faith or lack of faith of the people. I’m praying for you and your children. If you would like to email me privately, my email is May the Lord make you aware of His presence in your life and the work He is doing on your behalf. May His healing touch relieve you of your pain and anxiety. In Jesus’ name, Amen! Let it be. Karen

  2. Im 34, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a year ago. The pain has been coming on for 10 years…my left hip first then both hips, then my back then eventually my whole body is in pain everyday. I’m taking Lyrica and Mobic for pain but it’s not helping at all.
    I know God can heal me..I
    need to not be so hard on myself all the time and put my full trust in The Lord. . I love God with all my being but at times I don’t love myself like God wants me to.. we are in the image of God and we should be like’s hard some days, a lot of days..and I feel so horrible and I ask God to forgive me. I need a divine intervention, a new beginning to awaken my soul and body in a way that only God can do.
    I believe and know He can! I’m very spiritual and I believe the reason behind my pain is demonic attacks and I think it’s been growing overtime and now basically sense I was a child… so it’s ultimately up to me to release it.. I’ve been so incredibly hard on myself all my life and I’ve cried so many tears and have felt so worthless..and I feel lazy, and ugly and now 10 years of being a mother I feel like I’m failing my 10 year old and almost 7 year old girls.. I wish I could be a better mother to them, nurture them better, love them better, be there for them more, smile and laugh more with them, run and play, learn more about God, and the list goes on…these are the things I that go on in my head… but I do know that I am better then those negative thoughts. All I really know is that it’s time for a clarifying cleansing of restoration and a healing to take place because I feel like I need to break free from all this darkness that is attached to me. I’m so ready to be free!!! Please pray for me.

    1. Our Father in heaven … what a privilege to call you Father! What a privilege that I have a sister in Christ! You are OUR Father! Touch your daughter who is in pain with Your healing touch. Give her Your peace, and Your healing. Steep her deeply in Your Word, and pour out Your wisdom on her doctors and upon her. Teach her to sit at Your feet and behold Your beauty. Lead her by her right hand and show her the pleasures You have in Your right hand just for the plucking. Your plans for her are good and better than she can imagine. Teach her how to wait upon You as she expects You to work in her life. In Jesus’ holy Name, Amen.

      Please steep yourself in the Bible. Consume Jesus’ miracles. Don’t pay attention to the demonic–concentrate on the holy. Study the book of Job. Please feel free to ask me questions and to reach out to me. I will be praying for you. Will you please tell me your name? Praying for you, Karen

      1. Thank you Karen. My name is Rachel. I need to pull out some strength from within me…lately I’ve felt so broken. I’ll dig into the book of Job first thing after my girls are at school. Thank you again

  3. I have fibromyalgia and get maybe 4 to 5 hours of sleep a night
    I get up every morning at 2:30
    I have the worst brain fog and I am so exhausted and overwhelmed everyday with sensory issues,I have to go to my car and take naps on my breaks at work
    I feel stuck right now however I have God’s promises to keep me with hope of COMPLETE healing and He gives me what I need to persevere each day
    I don’t believe His abundance of life He has promised is suppose to be like this
    I have a calling to help broken people and this body keeps me from thinking clearly and doing what needs to be done
    Please pray for me
    I am blessed indeed but this body feels like a curse,just being honest here

    1. Holly, I have been there. The pain at night was so intense that I could not sleep, and I would be driving down streets that I had driven 100 times (probably an exaggerated number), and I wouldn’t recognize where I was because of the brain fog. I was stuck and ready to resign from my job, but I thought God had something else for me to accomplish. Now, I praise the Lord for fibro and the fact that I went through the pain and hopelessness. You already know what your calling is: to help broken people. Because of your calling, brokenness is a blessing. Jesus was broken for our sins and our sicknesses to redeem us. When you have no hope in yourself or man, you have to look to God and trust in His power, His healing touch, His guiding you. God gave me a life verse: Isaiah 40:31, but read the context of the entire chapter and then trust in this: Yet those who wait for the LORD/ Will gain new strength; / They will mount up with wings like eagles, / They will run and not get tired, / They will walk and not become weary.

      Father, You are our Great Healer. Bless Holly with the knowledge of Your presence and guidance in this difficult time. Pour out healing, Your perfect healing. Healing of her mind, her body, and her spirit. By Your stripes, Jesus, Holly is healed in Your perfect timing. Use this time of affliction to draw Holly closer to You, Lord. Guide her spirit as she presses into You in the most intimate and urgent manner she has ever done. Guide her study of Your Word. Holy Spirit, prompt her prayers and pray for her when she doesn’t know what to pray.

      Holly, please keep in touch with me and let me know how you are doing.

      The Lord has a special work that He has prepared for you to accomplish from the foundation of the world. Trust in Him, and He will accomplish it.

      Blessings, Karen

  4. Pretty great post. I simply stumbled upon your weblog and wished to say that I’ve truly loved surfing around your weblog posts. After all I will be subscribing in your rss feed and I am hoping you write again soon!

    1. Mana,

      Thank you for your gracious post. Sorry that I’ve delayed getting to you. We have been in India. I look forward to hearing from you again. May the Lord richly bless you and keep you in His great and precious promises.

  5. Karen, I particularly appreciate the passage from Jeremiah that you shared. Like you I’m blessed to say that God has brought a measure of healing in my life. While I am not free of pain I believe that I’ve been healed. For some healing does not always mean a life free of pain which is unfortunate but joy can still be found. Blessings to you as you encourage to people to look for joy and pursue healing however it might look.

    1. My dear Karen,

      I am glad that God has brought you healing. Sometimes healing is a process, and that process can also bring blessings as you wait upon God for a complete healing. Remember, Abraham had the promise, and he waited for 25 years! Joseph has the vision of his family bowing down before him, and he believed God. His brothers threw him in the pit, sold him into slavery, and he ended up in prison. He interpreted the dreams, and it took another 2 years for the cup bearer to remember him, but God delivered him and the dream became true. Trust in the Lord; wait in the Lord, and He will renew your strength. Please keep me updated on how you are doing. May the Lord richly bless you! Karen
